Optical windows are precision glass components designed to protect sensitive optical systems while ensuring high transmission and minimal distortion of light.
At LIGHTING, we specialize in custom optical glass windows for high-performance applications in photonics, laser systems, medical imaging, semiconductor inspection, and aerospace optics.
With advanced CNC machining, polishing, and coating technologies, we produce optical windows that meet the most demanding optical, dimensional, and surface quality requirements.

What Is an Optical Window?
An optical window is a flat, transparent substrate used to separate two environments without affecting the optical path. It provides environmental protection for internal components while maintaining high transmission across specific spectral ranges (UV, VIS, NIR, or IR).
In high-precision systems, the flatness, parallelism, and surface quality of the window directly impact the optical performance. Our optical windows are manufactured to stringent tolerances, ensuring excellent wavefront quality and minimal reflection or distortion.
Our Optical Windows products
We manufacture a complete range of optical window types to match different optical, environmental, and mechanical conditions.

UV Windows
Protect systems and sensitive materials from harmful ultraviolet radiation. UV windows are made from UV-grade fused silica or quartz, transmitting down to 185 nm while blocking shorter wavelengths that cause material degradation and fading.
Visible (VIS) Windows
Optimized for the visible spectrum (400–700 nm). Commonly produced from BK7 or B270 glass, these windows ensure high optical clarity and uniform transmission for imaging and display systems.

IR Windows
Designed for near- and mid-infrared applications (0.7–5 μm). Made from materials like sapphire or IR-grade fused silica, they offer excellent thermal stability and resistance to high-power IR beams.
AR-Coated Windows
Anti-reflective coatings reduce surface reflection and increase transmission efficiency. Available for single or multi-wavelength operation (UV/VIS/NIR/IR), AR-coated windows enhance signal quality in optical and laser instruments.

Protective Windows (Cover Glass)
Used as environmental shields to protect sensors, mirrors, and optics from dust, moisture, and mechanical damage. These can be made from chemically strengthened or coated borosilicate glass for maximum durability.
High-Temperature Windows
Constructed from materials like quartz or sapphire, these windows withstand extreme temperatures up to 1200°C, suitable for industrial, aerospace, and high-power laser environments.

Optical Flat Windows
Ultra-flat windows with surface accuracy up to λ/10, used in interferometers, reference optics, and precision alignment tools where wavefront distortion must be minimized.
Optical Window Substrates: Matching Material to Application
The successful performance of an optical window is directly linked to the selection of the substrate material. We process a comprehensive range of materials, each optimized for specific spectral ranges, thermal stability, and mechanical durability.
UV & Visible Range Materials
| Material | Key Characteristics | Typical Applications |
| UV Fused Silica (UVFS) | Excellent UV-VIS transmission (down to 185nm), extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), high laser damage threshold. | Excimer lasers, deep UV lithography, high-power beam steering. |
| K9 | High homogeneity, excellent transmission in the visible and near-IR spectrum, cost-effective for general optics. | General instrumentation, visible light cameras, laboratory equipment. |
| Borosilicate Glass | Low thermal expansion, high chemical resistance, ideal for precision scientific plates and display cover glass. | Microscopy, protective cover glass, analytical sensors. |
